Are you looking for places in Taipei to discover local creativity and original souvenirs from local designers? We’ve got a list of places for you!
Taipei’s neighborhoods are dotted with shops, cafes and boutiques full of personality and stories, many of which are also shops selling on Pinkoi. In our Shop Next Door column, editors have visited their store and chatted with designers in person. We’ve organized them for you into the districts of Da An, Datong, Zhongshan, Songshan and New Taipei City. Check out these shops to make the most out of your day trips in Taipei.
Da An District
1. A Kind of Cafe
Mon marché, a sort of cafe, a kind of cafe…, there have been several names attempting to describe this multi-purpose creative space. A Kind of Cafe in Taipei’s Da’An District has indeed become the friendly kitchen and mixed media creative studio that Uulin and Pearl imagined it to be.

For years, illustrators Chia-Chen and Ping-Hsien have been touching people’s hearts with their art, detailing shared memories of life in Taiwan. “We often lose connections to ourselves as life pushes us forward. It happened to us, and that’s why we began creating art that’s relatively simple with the time we can scrape together.”

But in the shop, what you’ll feel most is the beautiful outcome of a comfortable space with thoughtful designs and a gentle, positive outlook to life.
