When you are captivated by a bright and colorful pressed flower design, do you also try to smell the fragrance of the flowers? As a flower lover and the maker of the Rosamery pressed flower phone cases, Cynthia indulges in not just the looks but even in the heavenly smell of, say, her favorite flower, the sunflower. It has been a long journey, but now Cynthia has her heart set on working on Rosamery and the art of pressing, preserving and displaying flowers in everyday accessories.
1. Please tell us about your brand, Rosamery.
This was my very first design and also my favorite design which has since turned into the signature style of my brand:
Rosamery is seeded in our deep love for flowers and for one-of-a-kind items. I take a lot of pride in meticulously making handcrafted accessories, which is also what my dear customers enjoy. There is nothing more rewarding than hearing the compliments my customers get from using my products. It is great when you can enjoy the work you do and see how it is appreciated.
2. Tell us about how your adventures brought you close to plants and flowers.
I’ve always been obsessed with the beauty of flora and fauna. In 2016, I introduced myself to jewelry making and it sent me on a creative journey to share the stories of each individual flower.
At the start of my career, I looked for ways to do things differently, exploring different methods. One of these methods was to design jewelry with flowers. After some trial and error in pressing flowers and designing around them, I was able to make this very special union between flowers and design with Rosamery Design.
3. Where do you pick your flowers and what is special about them?
Initially, I did botanical pressing for fun and for my own pleasure. It turned into quite a collection and ended up in keepsake albums, framed on the walls and all over the house. In past years, I began turning them into accessories and this is how I began making resin botanical jewelry. The next summer, I experimented with dandelions, moss, lichens and other flowers.
My work became all about the art of nature, or rather, the art of preserving it.
4. Introduce us to your favorite plant and how it inspires your designs.
Some people like flamboyant flowers, like roses or carnations, while others like more subtle flowers, like lilies or lavender. Personally, my favorite flower is the sunflower. It’s probably the prettiest flower out there, in my opinion. When I grew sunflowers, I became so attached to them that I named them and felt really sad if one of them didn’t make it.
Also, sunflowers smell really nice. I don’t even know how to describe their smell, they just smell like heaven and I love it. Also, they are happy flowers: Sunflowers in general are cheerful flowers; I don’t know anyone who hasn’t looked at one and not smiled. I mean, have you seen one? It’s like a baby laughing while holding a Golden Retriever puppy. The whole experience is precious.
5. What do customers like about Rosamery designs?
These are some quotes from my customers:
“Rosamery’s cases are durable, gorgeous and so unique! I bought my case from her over a year ago and my case looks as beautiful as the day it arrived. I’ve gotten so many compliments on it and it still is as vibrant and colorful as when I first got it. The case has also held up through several falls and barely has any wear and tear on it after a year. I can’t say enough how much I enjoy Rosamery’s work and I hope that she is able to send you a case that you can love and enjoy as much as I’ve enjoyed mine!”—Natasha Mathew
“I love these cases, they are so beautiful. My daughter bought me my original phone case years ago. I still have it and it is still in excellent condition but the colours in the flowers have faded a bit. When I got my new Iphone 7 Plus I instantly bought a new floral case for it. Love them, people comment on my case all the time.”—Robyn Buttsworth
We don’t get to see freshly picked flowers every day, but we can easily enjoy different types of vibrant floral arrangements, framed in cases, at Rosamery.
