Since inception in 2011, Pinkoi has been continuously cultivating a vibrant design ecosystem that offers true value to the world. 2022 marks a new chapter for Pinkoi as we move into our second decade online. Thank you for continuing to create with us and helping to grow the Pinkoi ecosystem.
At this special time, we’ve invited Shopping Design, a Taiwanese media outlet that has been active in the lifestyle industry for many years, to jointly plan the first international Pinkoi Design Awards. We’ve created 5 different awards as an extension from three main conceptual axes: “Design and Quality” x “Business Development” X “Brand Value”. We sincerely invite brands from all over the world to register for this competition so that great brands and great design can continue to be seen.
*All winning brands will have the chance to receive promotional resources and rewards from Pinkoi and Shopping Design (Estimated Total Value: US$ 150,000)

Eligibility:
Mandatory Conditions
A: Shop must have at least 10 listings for sale.
B: (Alternative to Condition C) Brand must be a self-created brand (that is not an agent or distributor brand).
C: (Alternative to Condition B) Brand has sold on Pinkoi for at least 2 years (opened their shop before 2019).
Bonus Conditions
A: Brand sells an average of at least 35 items per year.
B: Brand has at least 300 followers on Pinkoi (as of 2/18/2022).
Fees
Registrations are to be completed by shops. The registration fee for each award is US$ 20.00. If you wish to register for two awards you will need to pay two registration fees, paying the fee for each award on its registration fee page. (Fees include administrative fees for the awards and fees for marketing and promotion.)

Schedule
1. Initial Reviews – End of February. Initial reviews by Pinkoi and Shopping Design.
2. Second Round of Reviews – End of February. Selections made by Pinkoi and Shopping Design.
(Selection criteria will be based on bonus eligibility conditions and the written content provided in the registration.)
3. Final Review – 3/7 – 3/13. P Coins online voting (all Pinkoi members can participate) and online selection by an international panel.
4. Awards Ceremony– Beginning of April.

Awards and Selection Criteria
Theme A: Design and Quality
Award 1: Stylish
The brand’s products or workshops are aesthetically pleasing and of high quality, helping people to create better lifestyles or environments.
Award 2: Designed
The brand’s products are aesthetically pleasing and of high quality, helping people to solve issues in their everyday lives, increasing their quality of life and providing more convenience and comfort. (Workshops not eligible)
Theme B: Business Development
Award 3: Star
The brand’s products exude a sense of international design. The brand also possesses international marketing experience and has demonstrated the ability to operate in international markets or has been covered in prominent international media, won international awards, etc.

Theme C: Brand Value
Award 4: Cultured
The brand’s products are an extension or development of traditional culture or crafting techniques, producing products that can then be used in the lives of people from all over the world.

Award 5: Innovative
The Brand’s core values are aimed at improving issues that humanity is currently facing. It’s product designs bring breakthroughs in features and functions, with the potential to change the way our lives are lived.

Selection Process
1. Initial Reviews
Initial selections will be carried out internally by Pinkoi. Brands that pass initial reviews will move on to the second round of reviews, but will not be notified of this by Pinkoi.
2. Second Round of Reviews
Pinkoi and Shopping Design representatives will jointly select finalists for final reviews. Pinkoi will send an email to notify the finalists on 3/7. Brands that are not finalists will not receive any notification.
3. Final Review
Finalists will get to participate in final online selections and P Coins online voting (all Pinkoi members can vote). A combination of panel selections for the 5 different awards (70%) and the P Coins online voting (30%) will be used to determine winners for each award (first prize (1 brand) and second prize (2 brands)).
Winners of the 2022 Pinkoi Design Awards will be announced online on the Pinkoi Design Awards event page at the end of March. Winners will be granted the right to use this year’s “Pinkoi Design Award” badge, and a trophy will be presented at the awards ceremony in early April.

Johanson Lo, Founder and Creative Director at JL Design, Chief Brand Officer at Good Finance Securities Co., Ltd.
JL Design was established in 2007. It is the first creative company in Taiwan specializing in moving images and brand design for channels. In recent years, Johanson has led JL Design in their participation in cross-disciplinary digital installations, allowing them to develop even more creative energy and collaborative abilities. Johanson has also been responsible for planning several important awards ceremonies and performances. He believes that design is not only a method of solving problems, but also an expression of thought and ideas. He continues to create different design works in his role as a creative curator, breaking through the boundaries of visual design.

Yu Yamada, Buyer and Curator at Method Inc.
After working as a buyer for Idée Shop in Minami-Aoyama, Yu founded Method in 2007 and began working as a freelance buyer. His past works as a planning consultant include: The National Art Center Tokyo Museum Shop (“Souvenir from Tokyo”), the 21_21 Design Sight Shop, the Good Design Store Tokyo by Nohara, Made in Pierre Hermé Marunouchi, and the Tsubame-Sanjo Factory Festival. Yu also works extensively as a judge for various competitions, including the Good Design Award, and is active as a lecturer for educational institutions and local industries.

Javin Mo, Founder and Design Director at Milkxhake Design Studio
Javin is heavily involved in his local art and design scene and is always enthusiastic about sharing with younger generations. He has actively participated in various design seminars and exhibitions across Hong Kong and Mainland China, and other Asian countries including Japan, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. Javin’s works have been selected for numerous international design awards including: New York Art Directors Club, British D&AD Awards, Tokyo Type Directors Club Annual, Design for Asia Awards, Graphic Design in China and Hong Kong Designers Association Awards.

Pinhua Xie, Project Director at New Time (China) Co., Ltd.
Pinhua Xie graduated from the National Taiwan University Department of Geography and Soochow University School of Law. His unique background and experience has helped New Time to become the most influential and well-known general agent for brands in mainland China. Responsible for international design product agency and brand operation, he has also served as a judge for the Interior Lifestyle China exhibition. New Time currently represents nearly 100 brands in Taiwan, mainland China, Hong Kong and other regions, and continues to develop retail channels such as high-end bookstores, furniture and clothing, boutiques, museums, etc. They also actively cooperate with professionals from overseas to create a platform for cultural exchange.
